Canning Centrefire / Rimfire
The Canning Centrefire / Rimfire Match is a single-handed handgun discipline that focuses on precision shooting and timed fire at 25 metres.
This discipline allows competitors to use a wide range of handgun types and calibres, making it accessible to both new and experienced shooters.


Firearms and Classes
Both centrefire and rimfire handguns are permitted.
Competitors are grouped into classes based on firearm type and configuration:
- Semi-Automatic
- Revolver
- Centrefire
- Rimfire
- Optics
- Iron Sights
These divisions ensure fair competition across different equipment styles.
Course of Fire - Precision Stage
Precision Stage
- Target: 50m Precision Pistol Target
- Format:
- 3 serials of 5 rounds
- 15 minutes per serial
- Total per sequence: 15 rounds
After each sequence:
- Targets are scored and patched
This stage is repeated for a total of 30 rounds.
This component emphasises accuracy, consistency, and careful shot placement.


Course of Fire - Timed / Turning Target Stage
- Target: Mandar turning target
- Format:
- 3 serials of 5 rounds
- 1 shot every 3 seconds
- Target then turns away for 7 seconds
- Total per sequence: 15 rounds
After each sequence:
- Targets are scored and patched
This stage is repeated for a total of 30 rounds.
This component tests timing, rhythm, and controlled rapid fire.
