Canning Air Rifle
(Indoor and Outdoor)
Canning Club provides facilities for both indoor air rifle shooting and outdoor rifle disciplines, allowing shooters to practice and compete across a range of distances and shooting styles.

Indoor Air Rifle
The indoor range supports .177 calibre air rifles and is used for a number of precision shooting disciplines.
These include:
- 10 metre Air Rifle
- 10 metre Air Rifle – 3 Position
These disciplines focus on precision target shooting, requiring excellent control, concentration, and consistency from competitors.
Both events are governed internationally by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) and form part of the international competitive shooting structure.
Outdoor Air Rifle
Outdoor air rifle shooting takes place on Range 2, which is a dedicated 50 metre bench rest range.
Range 7 which is a dedicated 100m bench rest range is also used.
Range features include:
- Shooting distances from 10 metres to 50 metres
- Rolling turning target systems on Range 2
- Bench rest shooting positions
The outdoor air rifle discipline primarily caters for shooters using Pre-Charged Pneumatic (PCP) air rifles, which are well suited for longer-distance precision shooting.
This discipline supports calibres of 0.22, 0.25, 0.3 and 0.357.

Courses of Fire
Courses of fire for the outdoor air rifle discipline are designed by the club’s Discipline Captains, allowing the club to introduce a variety of challenging and engaging matches for members.
These courses aim to test:

- Consistency
- Equipment performance
