Canning Field Rifle is one of the rifle disciplines offered at Canning Club and is designed to develop practical field shooting skills using rimfire rifles.
This discipline focuses on the most commonly used field shooting positions, providing a well-rounded test of a shooter’s accuracy, stability, and adaptability across different scenarios.

Firearms
Competitors use rimfire rifles chambered in .22 Long Rifle (.22LR).

Shooting Positions

These positions simulate real-world shooting conditions, helping shooters build practical marksmanship skills.

Course of Fire
The course of fire consists of multiple stages at varying distances:
Rapid Fire

- 15 seconds per series
Position: Standing, unsupported
This stage tests speed, control, and quick target acquisition.
Standing (Slow Fire)
- Distance: 25 metres
- Rounds: 10
- Position: Standing, unsupported
Focuses on precision and stability without support.
Standing Post Rest
